Hammer SL is the results of 1.5 years of skilled mechanical engineering, with the aim to bring out the fastest, most stable and solid downwind slalom fin. The thin profile is developed through hundreds of CFD-simulations, to produce the lowest possible hydrodynamic drag, combined with a high lift and a reduced risk of spinouts. Outline is by design elliptical with a rounded fin tip, for low induced drag characteristics. The larger area close to the base, gives you the needed power when accelerating out of that fully planning jibe. Read more about the design process and CFD-simulations here.
Our Hammer SL racing fin are made by carefully designed and laser guided layup of high-performance high modulus and intermediate modulus carbon fibers in closed molds. We use the full spectrum of fibers; Woven, multiaxial and unidirectionals. This gives the fin an insane dynamic flex response and a fierce lively feeling. It comes in three different stiffness versions; Soft, Medium and Stiff. Read more about how we define the range of stiffness of Hammer SL here.
The molding process is vacuum assisted resin transfer molding (RTM) in closed molds, giving the very lowest void content and corresponding highest strength. We manufacture a thin profile with an immense high torsional (twisting) stiffness, but with a controlled sideways bending stiffness. This fine-tuned bending stiffness, gives the fin the essential bending curve, which you aim for when railing your board. This lifts the board higher in the water, reducing the total wetted area, and by this reducing overall drag and makes your board fly faster over the chop. When buying a fast fin, you want the same as the pro’s – Speed, Power and Control. With the Hammer SL, you get all that.
In the beginning, it will be available in Tuttle Box and in sizes from 28 to 41.
Lead time is kept an eye on - on a daily basis.
